About Us.
In 2019, Daily Maverick published its 10-year anniversary book, We have A Game Changer. It turns out the title of this book was a self-fulfilling prophecy because self-publishing this project was indeed a game changer and the birth of Maverick451, Daily Maverick’s book-publishing division.
What we do.
We publish high-calibre non-fiction books, from stand-out biographies and political analysis, to business and children’s nonfiction. Whatever the subject, we want to publish books that are meaningful and add a unique value to Daily Maverick readers and the wider South African audience.
Above all else our goal is to publish great stories that matter, so our readers can know more and know better.
Why we Publish.
The point of publishing the books is the same as it’s always been: to tell stories and share knowledge and experiences. When done well the relationship between writer and reader ignites a human connection that is not limited by time, geography or demographics.
Telling stories is one of the best things Daily Maverick is known for, and just as we have done for news publishing we believe the book-publishing industry could do with some innovation and reimagination. As a media organisation we have built a solid relationship with our readers and have access to some of the best writers and thinkers of our time.
